Developing Areas in Singapore
Duxton Hill and Duxton Road was not considered a good area 10 – 15 years ago, with only a couple of hotels where you could rent a room by the hour. About 5 years ago, gentrification hit the area and small sidewalk restaurants and wine bars started popping up. Now you have a Starwood and a Sofitel. If you want to experience traditional shop houses but think China Town is too touristy, then Duxton Hill should not be missed.
Is Singapore Hotel Market Saturated?
Singapore is already crowded with hotels and you might think that the market is saturated. However, Singapore attracts both business and leisure travellers. Singapore Tourism Board is extremely active, promoting Singapore as a leisure destination. Add Singapore Airlines´ Stop Over packages to the equation and you will understand that there are room for a couple of new hotels.
More hotels will mean more competition, which usually means lower prices and/or higher quality for you, dear hotel guest. In other words: good times to come!
